Fried Zucchini and Squash Blossoms

Zucchini comes from, the Italian word “zucca,” or squash. In Italy, zucchini is served in a variety of ways, especially pan fried. Deep-frying the flowers, or blossoms, is a delicious twist know as fiori di zucca.

Ingredients

Zucchini squash, sliced in circles or halved and then quartered large large French fries
Or zucchini blossos
1 cup flour
1 1/2 cups milk
1 egg, beaten
Salt and pepper

DIRECTIONS

In medium size bowl, beat egg and milk together.
Cut zucchini into 1/2 inch slices.
Sprinkle slices with salt and pepper and let rest for 15 minutes. Pat dry.
Then, dip slices into egg mixture and dredge in flour.
Fry in hot oil or lard.
Salt and pepper to taste.

NOTE
If using blossom,s, rinse and pat the flowers dry.
Dip in egg and milk mixture.
Then dip them in flour and fry until golden.
